This half-cardigan knit fabric replicates the texture of "garabo" (rattling spun yarn) using strong slub yarn. Garabo is short for "garagara boseki" (rattling spinning). Old spinning machines were called garabo because of the rattling sound they made. Although these spinning machines are no longer in operation, the unevenness produced by imperfect machines created unique fabrics. This product expresses that fabric texture in a heavy 11.8 oz half-cardigan knit. Due to the thickness of the fabric, a special sewing machine that creates flat seams with a four-needle stitch is used for construction.
